Botany’s Cockroach?

Weeds are annoying. I spend an awful lot of time in the garden weeding, weeding, weeding, and yet there are always, always more. Most people, myself included, view them as pesky little plants that should just go away. Richard Mabley, a British nature writer, recently came out with a book called Weeds: In Defense of Nature’s Most Unloved Plants. This story on NPR’s All Things Considered made me think about weeds a little differently: if nothing else, they sure are resourceful. Give it a listen!

  1. I just read that spraying undiluted white vinegar on a weed patch that’s isolated, not next to the vegetables, is safe and effective and I’m going to try it–will let you know. Also, what plug in did you use for your slide show introducing the garden? I’d like to find and use it.

    Thanks!
